PUDUKOTTAI: A training programme on the procedures to be followed by officials while conducting the fifth Economic Census in the district was held here today. Inaugurating the programme, the District Revenue Officer, V. Shobana said that 150 officials would be involved in the job of taking the census. The district administration has appointed 100 officials as enumerators and 50 others as supervisors.She said the State and Central governments evolved several people-welfare programmes, only based on the economic census. Hence, she appealed to the trainees to ensure accuracy in compiling the economic data about the people. The Statistical Officer, S. Harihara Subramanian explained the procedure to be followed for the collection of statistics and the compilation of different data and classification techniques. The Assistant Director of Statistics, S. Francis Selvaraj and the P. Malik Mohamed, Block Statistics Inspector, spoke on the occasion. The census, which commences on May 15, will end on June 16.
