The Hindu takes inter-media title

VISAKHAPATNAM: The Hindu won the CMR-VJF inter-media cricket tournament, beating Eenadu by 14 runs in the final played at the Port Stadium here on Thursday.

Chasing a target of 158 runs, Eenadu found the going tough against The Hindu though its opener Suribabu (78, 4x5) kept one end intact almost till the end. Fine fielding by The Hindu had resulted in four Eenadu batsmen, including Suribabu, being run out as the innings moved into its last stage. Deepak was responsible for two run outs from the deep.

Suribabu was adjudged the Man of the Match for his fighting knock.

G. Gangadhar was the most successful bowler for The Hindu.

Opting to bat first, The Hindu made 157. Opener K.R. Deepak and middle order batsman Satish kept the score moving. Deepak made 33 runs (1x4). Durga Prasad and Nagesh claimed two wickets each.

The scores:

Final: The Hindu 157 for eight in 25 overs bt Eenadu 143 in 22.1 overs.

Third place: The New Indian Express 113 for eight lost to Andhra Jyothi 114 for four in 13 overs.
