Ahmedabad: After a scrappy match which saw as many as 16 breaks of serve, top-seeded Sai Jayalakshmy crashed out of the ITF women's circuit tournament, beaten 3-6, 6-1, 6-4 by China's Shen-Nan Sun. After surrendering the first set, Sun took charge and started making her opponent run all around the court. The Indian was broken in the first, third and seventh games and Sun was broken in the sixth. But the Chinese lass took the set 6-1. In the third set, both the players were locked at 4-4 with Sun serving. Sai had a break point but failed to capitalise on the advantage. Sun eventually prevailed 6-4. Shruti Dhawan ended the dream run of qualifier Ksenia Palkina, beating her 0-6, 7-6(3), 6-1. In the first set which lasted 40 minutes, Isha and Ankita were broken thrice and twice respectively. While Ankita served two double faults, Isha also had one. In the second set, Ankita seemed to have lost concentration as she served three double faults in the first game. She conceded the set 3-6 to Isha, but broke her in the first game of the third set and finally won it 6-4. The results: Quarterfinals: Sheng-Nan Sun (Chn) bt Sai Jaylakshmy Jayaram (Ind) 3-6, 6-1, 6-4; Shruti Dhawan (Ind) bt Ksenia Palkina (Kgz) 0-6, 7-6 (7-3), 6-1; Sanaa Bhambri (Ind) bt Parul Goswami (Ind) 7-6(3), 6-2; Ankita Bhambri (Ind) bt Isha Lakhani (Ind) 6-4, 3-6, 6-4.
