KOLLAM: Thiruvananthapuram edged out Palakkad 31-29 to win the title in the 30th State junior boys handball championship at the QAC handball courts here on Thursday. The winner led 17-14 at half-time. Sivaprasad once again played a big role in Thiruvananthapuram's win by scoring 13 points. Earlier, host Kollam took the third spot after scoring an easy 31-22 win over Thrissur. The Labour Minister Babu Divakaran gave away the prizes. The result: Final: Thiruvananthapuram 31 (Sivaprasad 13, Mahesh 6, Shinto 5) bt Palakkad 29 (Shino Das 6, Arun 5, Nizar 3). Loser's final: Kollam 31 (Afsal 6, Praveen 5, Ragesh 5) bt Thrissur 22 (Fabin 6, Manu Mathew 4). Semifinals: Thiruvananthapruam 30 (Sivaprasad 12, Shinto 9, Rahul 5) bt Kollam 29 (Noufal 7, Praveen 6, Ragesh 6); Palakkad 36 (Arun 7, Renil 5, Nisar 5) Thrissur 34 (Arun Rao 8, Fabin 5, Roshan Jose 4).
