Girl drowned in sump

BANGALORE: A seven-year-old girl, Geetha, drowned in a sump at a construction site at Byrathi village in Hennur police station limits on Thursday.

The police said that around 11.30 a.m. Geetha fell into the sump while playing with her younger sister, Latha.

Passersby rescued Geetha and rushed her to a hospital where she was declared brought dead. Geetha was the daughter of Raja, a labourer.

Two killed in accidents

Two persons were killed in road accidents in the city on Wednesday. Gorima (55) of Haleguddadhahalli was killed when a lorry hit the motorcycle on which she was riding pillion with her son on S.M. Road, off Ayappa temple, in Peenya police station limits around 1 p.m.

Her son, Chand Pasha, was injured.

The Peenya traffic police have registered a case and seized the lorry.

In the other incident, a pedestrian, Moiuddin (53), was killed when a car hit him at Santhebeedhi in Madivala police station limits around 4.30 p.m.

The Madivala traffic police have registered a case and seized the car.

The police are on the lookout for the driver.
