Leak in water pipeline slows down traffic

Staff Reporter

BANGALORE: Two-wheeler riders who passed through the railway bridge near the Khoday's Circle, had a harrowing experience on Thursday morning.

The water pipeline along the railway track was leaking profusely. Although those who drive on the road every day are used to water trickling down from the pipe for the past several months, on Thursday it was a virtual shower as the joint in the pipeline had split. Office-goers had to halt and proceed at the bridge to avoid being drenched. This is not a new problem. M. Vinod, a two-wheeler rider, said: "It used to trickle every day. People driving through the bridge for the first time are caught unawares because the trickle is difficult to spot from a distance," he said.

A Bangalore Water Supply and Sewerage Board official said the leak in the pipeline was plugged about a week ago.

The Divisional Railway Manager, Mahesh Kumar, told The Hindu that the civil engineers had rectified the problem.
