HYDERABAD: The Minister for Major Irrigation, Ponnala Lakshmaiah, on Thursday said that works costing Rs.12 crores under the National Food-for-Work (NFFW) programme in Ranga Reddy district were completed while 1,690 works costing Rs. 28.32 crores grounded. Reviewing works taken up during the month-long Praja Patham, he said that the works would be completed by June-end. Mr. Lakshmaiah said out of the 345 works on drinking water schemes 107 were completed. Under the `Indraprabha' comprehensive land development programme, an amount of Rs. 32 lakhs was spent and tank silt application, land levelling and related works were taken up. Out of 5,647 hectares of land sanctioned under the micro irrigation system, work in 3,660 hectares covering 2,395 farmers was grounded.
Work power lines
When some MLAs pointed out that there were 2,500 loose electricity supply lines that might pose danger during rainy season, the Minister directed officials concerned to rectify the problem immediately. On employment generation, the Minister said 28 works were completed and 175 works grounded. Harishwar Reddy (Parigi), P. Janardhan Reddy (Khairatabad), M. Narayana Rao (Tandur) and M. Narasimha (Ibrahimpatnam), MLAs, and the Zilla Parishad Chairman, K. Gnaneshwar, were present.
