Right to information

The recently passed Right to Information Bill is sure to help reduce corruption and malpractice in the Government. On several occasions, vague answers are given to queries about basic information and the individual is sent from pillar to post. Then, in utter distress he or she agrees to the unreasonable monetary demands to save time and gain some peace of mind. Will such a situation become a thing of the past?

S.S. Kayyar,
Chennai

The Bill was long due. The ignorance of the common man and the lack of accountability on the part of the government authorities have led to widespread corruption. Hopefully, now, a corruption-free era will be ushered in.

Barun Kumar Mahapatro,
Berhampur, Orissa
