UPA regime's performance not fully satisfactory: CPI(M)

Special Correspondent

Polit Bureau to assess government functioning

  • Party committed to forming democratic, secular third alternative
  • Pressure on Centre for enacting pro-people policies
  • "UPA performing better than NDA"

KOLKATA: The Communist Party of India (Marxist) is not fully satisfied with the performance of the United Progressive Alliance Government. The Polit Bureau will assess its functioning at a two-day meeting in New Delhi starting on Saturday, West Bengal State Secretary Anil Biswas said here on Friday.

The CPI (M) leadership would keep pressuring the UPA Government to implement pro-people policies. It, was however, performing better than the National Democratic Alliance Government, he said.

Asked whether the CPI (M) would participate in the celebrations to mark the completion of one year of the UPA's governance on May 22, Mr. Biswas said, "We are not part of the UPA Government."
