NEW DELHI: Prime Minister Manmohan Singh said on Friday that the Women's Reservation Bill would be tabled in Parliament in the monsoon session. Mr. Singh gave this assurance to a All-India Mahila Congress delegation that called on him to push for a speedy passage of the Bill, a Mahila Congress spokesperson said. Led by the Mahila Congress president, Rita Bahuguna Joshi, the delegation impressed upon Dr. Singh the need to ensure that the Bill, seeking 33 per cent reservation for women in legislatures, was tabled and passed in a time bound manner and that reservation be extended to the Rajya Sabha and the Legislative Councils also. "As Parliament will be adjourned sine die today, we feel disappointed that the Bill could not be presented in this session. On behalf of the All-India Mahila Congress, we demand tabling of the Bill in the monsoon session and we seek permission to give our inputs once the Draft Bill is ready," the delegation said in a memorandum.
