HASSAN: The Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) will not strike an alliance with any political parties in the coming election to taluk and zilla panchayats, the General Secretary of the party's State unit, Sreedhara Kalaveera, has said. Addressing presspersons here on Thursday, he announced that the BSP will contest in all the constituencies independently and will frustrate other political parties by not allowing them to get clear majority. The party is making efforts to create awareness among the people on the futility of voting Congress, Janata Dal (Secular) and Bharatiya Janata Party by presenting a fact sheet on their performances. Workshops, padayatras and rallies are being conducted in Hassan district to convince the electorate on the need to elect the BSP. The party, which secured 20 lakh votes in the last elections, will improve its position this time. It has set a target of securing at least 50 lakh votes in the taluk and zilla panchayat elections. Likewise, the party will improve its position in Hassan district, he added. Criticising the coalition Government for its failure to implement the promises made to the people, he said yellow cards are not being distributed among the poor even after one year.
