CUDDAPAH: Burglars broke into the house of a cotton trader, V. Surendranath Reddy, in YMR Colony in Proddatur town and decamped with 80 tolas of gold, 40,000 cash and a CD player all worth over Rs. 3 lakhs, in the early hours of Friday. Mr. Reddy's wife had brought home the gold ornaments and cash kept in a bank locker for her relative's marriage, according to the police. Burglars broke open the main door and the almirah and decamped with the booty, when the inmates were sleeping on the terrace, the police said. The Proddatur DSP, Srinivasulu Reddy, and other officials inspected the house.
