SRINAGAR: Hours after a bomb created havoc near a Srinagar school on Thursday, a parcel bomb killed three members of a family in Bijbehara town in south Kashmir. District Superintendent of Police Anantnag Syed Ashiq Hussain Bukhari said a bomb wrapped in a gift pack carrying sweets was delivered to Mohammad Sayeed Kakroo at his house in Bijbehara town on Thursday evening. The bomb exploded at around 10.30 p.m., killing Mr. Kakroo, his daughter and his son. Mr. Kakroo's wife was injured and his daughter-in-law critically wounded in the explosion. It also damaged his home. Preliminary investigations revealed that Bashir Ahmad, an assistant in the State Road Transport Corporation (SRTC), in which Mr. Kakroo was employed as a driver, hand-delivered the packet. After his arrest, he told interrogators that it was given to him by another driver, Nazir Ahmad. Mr. Ahmad said that another SRTC driver, Muzaffar, gave him the packet. When questioned, Mr. Muzaffar said two young men approached him in the Batamaloo (Srinagar) bus stand and requested him to deliver the sweets to Mr. Kakroo. "We have picked up four persons who are being interrogated but we are yet to get clues about the two youth," said a police official. "The motive is still elusive," he added.
