The committee visited a common effluent treatment plant at Kasipalayam here and elicited views from the industry at the Revenue Divisional Office. The Tirupur Dyers' Association president, N. Kandasamy, said all the dyeing units were now ready to install the machinery necessary to comply with the pollution control norms. The Tirupur Exporters' Association, the South India Hosiery Manufacturers Association, the Knit Cloth Manufacturers Association, the Tirupur Export Knitwear Manufacturers Association among others attended the meeting. The 46 dyeing units that were ordered closed recently appealed to the panel to recommend opening of the units. The committee member, S. Sivaraman, said that it would submit its report on May 20.
