BANGALORE: A newly married woman and a youth committed suicide in separate incidents reported from Kumaraswamy Layout and Basaveshwaranagar police station limits. The police said that on Thursday night Nagarathna (26) committed suicide by hanging herself from a ceiling fan at her house on 2nd Cross, Kumaraswamy Layout, as her husband allegedly tortured her for more dowry. Nagarathana, a native of B.M. Sri. Nagar in Mysore, married Lokesh, a driver, two months ago. Nagarathna's mother, Ningamma, has lodged a complaint with the police that Lokesh tortured her daughter for more dowry. The Kumaraswamy Layout police have registered a case. In the other incident, Dharnesh (23) committed suicide by hanging himself from a tree at a playground at Sanegoravanahalli. Dharnesh, a native of Arakere village in Arsikere taluk of Hassan district, was employed in a private factory at Rajajinagar here. He left a note saying that he was committing suicide as he could not marry the girl whom he loved and was unable to take care of his parents, the police said.
