200 injured in clash
DHAKA:
At least 200 persons, including police, were injured and some 100 vehicles damaged in fierce clashes between garment and transport workers in Bangladesh.
The clashes erupted when workers of a garment factory in nearby Gazipur district attacked passing vehicles to protest the death in a road accident of one of their colleagues on Friday, media reports said. The clashes continued for at least five hours injuring some 200 persons including police and bus passengers. Due to the streetfight, road link between capital Dhaka and 20 northern Bangladeshi districts was cut for hours. Police used batons to calm the rival groups.
