HASSAN: Hassan district has recorded 55.50 pass percentage in the second pre-university examination held in March-April. The district, which ranked 10th in the State last year with a pass percentage of 51.04, has improved marginally to the 9th position. Presidency PU College stood first in the district with a pass percentage of 92 and Kuvempu PU College came second with 87 per cent. St. Philomena's PU College and Sri Venkateshwara PU College secured the third and fourth positions, securing 86 per cent and 81 per cent, respectively. Of the 193 students who appeared for the examination from Presidency PU College, 177 passed and 10 students got distinction. The college secured a pass percentage of 95 in the commerce stream. Of the 67 students of Kuvempu PU College, 58 students passed. Yashaswini of Malnad Technical Education PU College secured first place by scoring 96.16 per cent and Aslam Tabusam of St. Philomena's PU College came second with 95.13 per cent. Pannaga B. Nagaraj and Shweta M. of MTE College shared the third place by scoring 94.33 per cent in the examinations.
