ERODE: : The district administration has taken all steps to administer polio drops to 2,58,284 children in Erode district, including about 5,000 children in tribal settlements on Sunday, said the District Collector, D. Karthikeyan. He told newsmen on Saturday that it was the aim of the district administration to make the Erode district polio-free. He said 2,64,450 children were given drops on April 10. The Collector said 1,667 centres, including 99 in tribal settlements and 105 in urban areas, had been set up to provide polio drops. The required quantity of drops had been transported to all the centres and would be given from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m., he said. Krishnagiri Staff Reporter writes: As many as 873 camps would be set up in the district for the second phase of pulse polio immunisation campaign, the Collector, Mangat Ram Sharma, said in a statement. The camps would be set up in 10 panchayat unions and two municipalities to benefit around two lakh children. He said that adequate arrangements had been made to reach even the remotest villages. The camps were being set up at primary health centres, sub-health centres, noon meal centres and offices of Social Welfare Department.
