Rayalaseema Grameena Bank earns Rs. 29 crores profit

CUDDAPAH: The Rayalaseema Grameena Bank transacted a total business of Rs. 1,809 crores in 2004-05 and earned an operating profit of Rs. 29.44 crores, the bank Chairman, M. Obulesu, said on Saturday.

The bank has mobilised deposits of Rs. 929 crores, a 11.52 per cent increase over 2003-04 and its outstanding advances amounted to Rs. 880 crores, 54.59 per cent higher than the previous year, he said in a statement here.

It surpassed the disbursement target of Rs. 522 crores by disbursing Rs. 782 crores, including Rs. 385 crores for farm sector, Rs. 100 crores for non-farm sector and Rs. 287 crores for non-priority sector, he explained.

The rural bank rescheduled 10,222 farmers' loan accounts and gave credit of Rs. 13.33 crores through 6,432 Swarojgar Credit Cards to rural artisans and handloom weavers, Mr. Obulesu said. The bank brought down its non-performing assets (NPAs) from 1.89 per cent to 0.96 per cent, he added.
