Congress blamed for Penukonda violence

Staff Reporter

CUDDAPAH: Congress was perpetrating brutal attacks on Telugu Desam Party (TDP) leaders and activists since it assumed power, the TDP district president, R. Ramesh Kumar Reddy, alleged on Saturday.

The TDP members went in a rally from NTR statue to Collectorate protesting against the Penukonda police firing.

Alleging that Congressmen eliminated 55 TDP activists during the last one year, Mr. Reddy held the Chief Minister, Y.S. Rajasekhara Reddy, responsible for Friday's disturbances and police firing.

The TDP leader alleged that it was a ploy to terrorise the opposition members and urged the Congress to give up murder politics and ensure peace in the State.

Dharna

The TDP activists led by K. Ramesh Reddy, staged a dharna before the Proddatur MRO office. He charged the police with opening fire without any forewarning though there was no provocation.

The TDP leader, R. Venkata Subba Reddy, alleged that some rowdy elements pelted stones at the police.
