CHENNAI: The imposition of quotas on Chinese cotton knit-shirts and blouses, cotton trousers and cotton and man-made fibre underwear by the US will help increase India's exports in these catetories to the American market, according to A.Sakthivel, Chairman of the Apparel Export Promotion Council (AEPC) and leader of the knitwear industry of Tirupur in Tamil Nadu. India is in a better position than any other textile exporting nation to take advantage of the quotas imposed by the US on China, Mr Sakthivel said, talking to THE HINDU. He expected that the European Union (EU) would follow the US example in imposing curbs on the surging textile imports from China.
