NEW DELHI: The next phase of the Pulse Polio Immunisation Programme under which all children below five years would be administered polio drops will be organised here in the Capital this Sunday. Delhi Chief Minister Sheila Dikshit on Saturday launched the programme by administering polio drops to several children at her residence. Speaking on the occasion, Ms. Dikshit observed that only one case of polio had been reported in January 2005 and the results of the pulse polio campaign from Delhi and neighbouring States had been satisfactory. She urged all Delhiities, particularly parents who have children below five years, to get their little ones administered the required polio drops by taking them to the nearest polio kendra and also motivate their neighbours to come along so that not a single child gets deprived of these drops. She hoped that the dream of making the country polio-free would be realised soon. The State Health Minister, Yoganand Shastri, thanked the media for spreading awareness about programme. The vice-president of Rotary International, John F. Germ, and office-bearers of WHO and UNICEF were among those present on the occasion.
