Meet on pain management

NEW DELHI: A seminar on "Actual Pain Management'' will be organised at Sir Ganga Ram Hospital here on Sunday. It will be inaugurated by Rajya Sabha MP, Santosh Bagrodia. More than 200 anaesthesiologists and orthopaedic surgeons would take part in the first update of its kind.

According to the chairperson, Jayashree Sood, and secretary of the update, about 50 per cent of patients admitted for acute traumatic and post-surgery pain do not get adequate relief in the hospital set-up. This is where the department was of great help to such patients. The update will feature the latest advances and modern devices used for the management of acute pain, they said.

IGNOU admission

NEW DELHI: The Indira Gandhi National Open University has opened admission for Hotel Management diploma holders of the National Council for Hotel Management and Catering Technology (NCHMCT) to B.Sc. in Hospitality and Hotel Administration for the July 2005-December 2006 session.

Those holding a three-year diploma in Hotel Management from NCHMCT under the Union Ministry of Tourism are eligible for admission to B.Sc. in Hospitality and Hotel Administration. The duration of the programme is 18 months. Admissions close on June 20.

Health without medicines

NEW DELHI: A seminar on "Live Healthy and Disease Free without Medicine by Naturopathy and Yoga" was organised by the All India Nature Cure Federation in the Capital on Saturday in which a large number of people participated.

Speaking on the occasion, the president of the Federation, Brij Bhushan Goel, said the cause of all diseases was accumulation of toxins in the body. These toxins can be removed through various natural means like fasting, eating an uncooked diet, mud pack, steam bath, hot foot bath, hand postures, besides practising yogasanas, pranayama and dhyan, he added.

CM inaugurates school building

NEW DELHI: The Delhi Chief Minister, Sheila Dikshit, on Saturday inaugurated the newly constructed building of the Government Senior Secondary School at Ghoga village in North-West Delhi.

Ms. Dikshit said her aim was to bring government schools at par with the best public schools in the Capital. She said that steps like establishment of Vidyalaya Kalyan Samitis and introduction of computers in the curricula were fast improving standards of education in such schools.

Constructed at a cost of Rs.90 lakhs with 24 classrooms, the school will serve the needs of children belonging to the weaker sections of society.
