School students held on theft charge

NEW DELHINEW DELHINEW DELHINEW DELHI: Two government school students who used to allegedly steal vehicles for fun and had stolen three motorcycles from Vivek Vihar, Welcome and Tilak Marg areas, were arrested by the North East Delhi police while they were riding a stolen vehicle on Friday.

The juvaccused, were caught riding a stolen Passion motorcycle near Ram Nagar Khata by a police party which had laid a trap for them. The vehicle it was then revealed had been stolen from the Tilak Marg area in new Delhi. During interrogation, the accused, aged just 15 years and 17 years and students of Class & and 12 respectively, confessed to their involvement in the theft of the two other vehicles as well. While one them had been abandoned by them at Loni in Uttar Pradesh and was traced there, the other was recovered from their house.

Nigerian arrested, heroin recovered

NEW DELHINEW DELHINEW DELHINEW DELHI: Claiming to have delivered a heavy blow to the international drug mafia, the Narcotics Branch of Delhi police arrested a Nigerian national and a local person on the charge of drug trafficking on Thursday and recovered 750 grams of heroin, worth Rs 75 lakhs in the international market, from their possession.

The Deputy Commissioner of Police, D.L. Kashyap, said on May 12, an informed was recived that one of the accused, Hemant, a resident of Paharganj and a native of Jallandhar, would be going to deliver a consignment of heroin near PVR Plaza Cinema in Connaught Place to a Nigerian national. Subsequently, a trap was laid and at about 3-20 p.m., the police team caught 30-year-old Hemant along with the 40-year-old Nigerian national, Enumah, a native of Lagos, while Hemant was handing over a bag to him.

The police said the Nigerian had come to Indian on April 9, 2005 with the sole intention of drug trafficking and had been to Nepal twice. As per his disclosure, they said, he wanted cocaine but settled for heroin as Hemant could not arrange it.

Alleged robbers arrested

NEW DELHINEW DELHINEW DELHINEW DELHI: The North-West Delhi police have arrested four persons -- all in their early 20s and residents of Mangol Puri here -- for their alleged involvement in three cases of theft and claim to have recovered a stolen motorcycle, one scooter, three bicycles and a colour television from their possession.

The police said while two of the boys, Mohammad Nazar and Annu Kumar, were nabbed at J-Block police booth on Friday night while they were riding a stolen motorcycle and were carrying the television set, and it was revealed that the vehicle had been stolen by them from Avantika in Rohini five days ago, their associates, Kuldeep Kumar and Rinku Bhan, were arrested at their instance as they revealed that they were involved in the theft of a scooter and three bicycles from a house in Mangol Puri.

Gang busted

NEW DELHINEW DELHINEW DELHINEW DELHI: With the arrest of three persons, the Special Staff of the East Delhi police claim to have busted a gang of robbers wanted in sensational cases of robberies reported recently in East Delhi. According to the police, a large number of cases of sensational robberies have been solved and two country-made pistols with four live cartridges, one mobile phone, gold, diamond and silver jewellery recovered from the possession of the accused.

They were identified as Dinesh, Sarvan Kumar and Vicky Kumar.
