THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The Leader of the Opposition, V. S. Achuthanandan, has disputed the Chief Minister, Oommen Chandy's claim that the agreement on the `Smart City' at Kochi was signed between the UAE and Kerala Governments. In a statement here on Saturday, Mr. Achuthanandan had contended that Dubai Internet City (DIC), with which the State Government had entered into an agreement, was not a UAE Government institution. If it was otherwise, the Chief Minister should clarify who represented the UAE Government at the talks and whether permission was sought and got from the Union Government for entering into such an agreement with a foreign Government, he added. The Opposition leader accused Mr. Chandy of trying to evade the corruption charges that he (Mr. Achuthanandan) had levelled against him.
