People urged to take advantage of State scheme

KARIMNAGAR: In order to ensure proper sanitation, the Lok Satta district unit in collaboration with the Karimnagar Municipal Corporation has launched a campaign educating people to use the individual lavatory scheme of the Government.

Launching the campaign in the Rose talkies area here on Saturday, the Muncipal Commissioner, N Satyanarayana, said a majority of health problems and mosquito menace in the town were being caused because of non-usage of septic tanks for toilets by some residents.

No to septic tanks

He said that the direct release of human excreta into the drainage without using septic tanks was a crime. He called upon the people to utilise the individual latrine scheme provided by the State Government.

The Lok Satta district secretary, T Rajamouli, said their campaign on individual latrine scheme was a success in the rural areas and they had decided to intensify the campaign in the towns also.

Plea to people

Mr. Majamouli called upon the people to participate in the mission ensuring a clean Karimnagar city.

The Lok Satta advisor, Prakash Holla and others participated in the programme.

The Lok Satta conducted a survey in the locality and identified 48 houses without septic tank and collected applications from the residents for the sanction of individual latrine scheme by the municipal authorities.
