NALGONDA: The Nakrekal police unravelled the mystery of the leader of the Communist Party of India (Marxist) Rachakonda Kattaiah's murder committed 15 months ago with the arrest of three activists of the Janshakti on Saturday. According to the Superintendent of Police, M.M. Bhagwat, the Janashakti's Suryapet organiser, Putta Sattam alias Satyam, had masterminded the killing and the party activists -- P. Ramachary, V. Janaiah and M. Venkanna--of Vemulapally in Suryapet mandal executed the plan. Another four accused persons, including Satyam, are still at large. One of the arrested persons, Janaiah, told reporters that they had axed Kattaiah to death while he was in sleep at his home in Gudivada village of Kethepally mandal on February 16, 2004. He said the party held Kattaiah responsible for the killing of some naxalites by the police. Kattaiah had worked with the outfit for sometime before taking membership of the CPI (M). The police recovered two axes from the trio. The SP appreciated the Nakrekal Circle Inspector, Venkateswarlu, Kethepally Sub-Inspector, M. Sridhar Reddy, and constables--Yasin Sharif, Janakiramulu and Ravikumar--for detecting the case.
