Festivities at temples

Staff Correspondent

MANGALORE: The Pratishta Mahotsava and Brahmakalashotsava of Sri Nagakanika Raktheshwari Daivasthana, Ambavana, Krishnanagar, at Thokkottu near here will be held from Tuesday to Friday. Likewise, the dedication of sanctum sanctorum, Punarprathiste and Brahmakalashotsav of Sri Mudduswamy Temple at Shiroor in Udupi taluk will be held for two days from Friday.

Chandrahas Ullal, honorary president of the renovation committee of the Sri Nagakanika Raktheshwari Daivasthana, told presspersons here on Saturday that the Ambavana has a history of nearly 1,500 years. Lack of proper maintenance had resulted in the place falling apart over the years.

Generous contributions from people and philanthropists enabled temple authorities to purchase land valued at Rs. 2.5 lakhs to plan future development of the kshetra. A renovation committee was set up to expedite the process, which has since completed the task at an estimated cost of Rs. 20 lakhs, he said.

The rituals pertaining to Punarprathiste will be held on Tuesday and Wednesday. Pratishtamahotsava, Brahmakalashotsava and Maha Annasantharpane will be held on Thursday. Likewise, married women too will perform "Laksha Kumkumarchane" rituals on Thursday, he said.
