TIRUCHI: : All-India Radio, Tiruchi, will introduce a music drama serial programme on the `Music Trinity' on May 16, as part of its 67th anniversary celebrations. The serial, `Sangeetha Mummoorthigal' would highlight the important events in the life of Sri Sadhguru Thyagarajar, Sri Muthuswamy Dikshitar and Sri Syama Sastrigal and their contribution to the development of music. The 30-minute serial would be broadcast daily for 13 days from 8. 45 a.m. A release from the AIR here on Saturday said special programmes would be broadcast on that day to mark the anniversary. A nadaswaram recital by Vedranyam Vedamurthy would be on air from 9.15 a.m. Special phone-in programmes on `pirantha naal kondattam' from 10 a.m. and `nam kaiyae namakku udhavi' on self-employment from 1. 05 p.m. would form other features. While the former would be a humour programme, the latter would be presented by the General Manager, District Industries Centre, Tiruchi, K. Govindarajan. Listeners could participate by dialling 0431-2416888. Former station director of the AIR T. Ganesan and writer Tiruchi Baarathan would participate in the special programme `Indru pudhidhai pirandhom' to be broadcast at 11 a.m.
For those born in
May, 1939
There will also be a special programme for those who were born in May, 1939. They would receive the birthday greetings in the `pirantha naal' programme on the primary channel, the release added. Listeners' messages and greetings in appreciation of the station's services would also be read out at intermittent intervals throughout Monday, the release added.
Hour-long programme
The All India Radio, Tiruchi, will broadcast a special hour-long phone-in programme from 11 a.m. on Sunday on `vetrikku vazhi' to clarify listeners' doubts in the catering technology and hotel management curricula. Interested listeners could dial 0431-2415341 or 2415342. N. Ganesan from Thanjavur would offer the clarifications. A release from the AIR said another phone-in programme in `Ilayabharatham' would be broadcast at 8 p.m. the same day, when doubts about undergraduate and higher educational curricula in commerce would be clarified by D. Joseph Anbarasu, a faculty.
