KOCHI: The Kerala Madyanirodhana Samithy has urged the Government to announce its liquor policy. The Samithy president, K.K. Rahulan, said at a press conference on Saturday that the Government had violated its promise to reduce liquor shops. The Samithy will organise a vehicular rally to highlight its demands. The rally will start from Kanhangad on May 15 and pass through all the districts before concluding in Thiruvananthapuram on June 8. The Samithy will launch peaceful agitations if its demands are not accepted by the Government. Mr. Rahulan demanded that the Government restore provisions in the Panchayat Raj Act relating to panchayat's approval for opening liquor shops. He said prohibition activists were being attacked by liquor mafia.
