The Union is building eight houses in 78 cents of land near the Chellanam village office. The houses are expected to be complete in a month's time. Each house is expected to cost around Rs. 2.35 lakhs. There will be a slight increase in the cost of construction for projects taken up in Chellanam panchayat, as they are being built on land reclaimed from backwater and it involves piling and similar works to reinforce the land, said Mr. Mather. The Christian Social Service Society is building another eight houses and the district administration is funding the construction of two houses for those who have land ready.
