Special gram sabha meetings held

THANJAVUR: Special gram sabha meetings were held in all village panchayats in the district today to discuss revision of draft poll rolls. M. Veera Shanmugha Moni, Collector, participated in the grama sabha meeting held at Ragavambal panchayat in Orathanadu panchayat union.

Those who want to include their names or delete their names can do so by applying in the proper forms between May 10 and May 30.

It is wrong to believe that voters can vote if they have identity card. They have to get their names in the voters' list.

Francis, Assistant Director of Panchayats, A.V.Suryanarayana Rao, District Panchayat Council President, Shanthi Karunanidhi, Orathanadu Panchayat Union President, V.Palanivel, President of Ragavambal Panchayat, participated in the meeting.

Perambalur

A special gram sabha meeting was held in all 322 village panchayats in this district today.

The Collector, D. Vivekanandan, inspected the proceedings at Anukkur in Veppanthattai block near here and verified the electoral roll.

He told the villagers that a copy of the draft roll had been displayed at all post offices, polling booths, offices of Block Development Officer, Taluk and the Revenue Divisional Officers.

He said names of new voters who are 18 years old as on January 1, 2005 would be included up to May 30.

He asked the voters to ensure proper deletion of names of dead voters.
