Violence in Valley

The recent spate of militant attacks in the Kashmir Valley is alarming. The statement of a spokesman for the Al-Mansoor outfit that the purpose behind the attacks was to expose the security lapses in the Valley should alert the authorities. The so-called freedom fighters only want to control Kashmir; the means are not their concern.

Syed Ali Safvi,
Aligarh, U.P.

We keep on harping on the need to sustain the process of peace between India and Pakistan, and in Kashmir innocent lives continue to be lost. It appears that the Kashmiris are fated to lead violence-filled lives.

Hema Prabha,
Coimbatore, T.N.

The recent violence shows how elusive peace is in the State. Only an abominably cruel organisation could have organised these attacks.

B.V.B. Nagabhushana,
Hubli, Karnataka

What do the militants hope to achieve by targeting innocent civilians, including school children? Attacking children is not an act of bravery. It is cowardice.

David Peniel,
Tiruchi, T.N.
