CHITRADURGA: The overall performance of students of the district in the II PU examination has improved marginally. However, the ranking of the district has slid from 21st place to 26th place this year. The district recorded a pass percentage of 41.38 per cent. Of the 13,912 students who appeared for the examination from the district, 5,641 passed. While 2,409 students obtained first classes, 1,329 students got second class, and 1,953 got pass class. Kannada medium students have done better than students from English medium schools. Of the 4,277 students from Kannada medium schools, 10,207 passed whereas only 1,480 of the 3,705 students from English medium schools passed. The performance of private candidates in commerce was dismal as none of the seven candidates passed the examination.
