BANGALORE: Venkatesh Prasad expressed his interest for the bowling coach slot with the Indian team. "If the BCCI approaches me with the post of the bowling coach, I will be more than happy to pass on my expertise gained with the experience of playing at the highest level and also by attending coaching courses over the years, especially after doing the Level III coaching program at the National Cricket Academy and with the ECB in England recently," Prasad said. The former India seamer, who also coaches the junior India teams, stressed that the current crop of fast bowlers are high on talent. "We have a fantastic bunch of young fast bowlers. Zaheer, Nehra, Irfan, Balaji and Agarkar are all talented and we also have other fast bowlers coming through. If I am selected as bowling coach I will lend tactical inputs like how to deal with different game scenarios and so on. At the highest level you cannot mess around with technique but yes if a bowler is going through a prolonged bad patch, has recurring injuries or is unable to bowl at the right areas then definitely I will get into the technique, the action and other related areas," Prasad said. Prasad also emphasised that the Board should groom coaches at the National level. "It helps if you have an understudy to the main professional coach so that in the long run you do have someone who can take over the main coach's role. As far as I am concerned there will not be any overlapping between the main coach and the bowling coach as all information will be shared and the main principle would be that the team comes first," Prasad said.
