CHENNAI: With airline operators, both in the domestic and international sectors crowding the skies, there is a spurt in organisations representing the travel trade. Already, there is Travel Agents Association of India (TAAI) and Travel Agents Federation of India (TAFI). Now keeping in line with the fierce race among the airlines, a new organisation christened Tourism Association of South India (TASI) has come up. M.K. Ajit Kumar, a spokesperson of TASI, says members of the tour operators in South India have got together to form TASI. The idea is to work together to market South India to promote tourism as a major foreign exchange earner and generate employment; to identify common problems confronting the tourism industry and represent the issues to the State and Central Governments or the appropriate authorities concerned and strive to bring a workable solution.
