TIRUPATI: The Chitoor district unit of the BJP said the year-long rule of the Y.S.Rajasekhara Reddy Government was fraught with "corruption and atrocities." At a meeting held here on Sunday the district party leaders evaluated the working of the State Government and listed instances wherein the Supreme Court or the High Court had to pull it up for acts of omission and commission. They cited in this connection revival of the Somasekhara Commission, Muslim Reservation bill, Pulichinthala project, SCs categorisation, irrigation tenders, new excise policy, PG medical admission and so on. They also accused the Congress government of having backtracked on its promises made in its run-up to elections to woo farmers and lamented that they getting free power as promised. The BJP leaders alleged that of the umpteen promises heaped on the voters during elections, 13 were taken up but given up midway, 18 were not touched at all while in case of another ten there is no mention at any level. Contrary to earlier announcement that the Government would conduct DSC every year, it had not conducted the DSC so far and so is the case with the reservation in private sector, introduction of the Women's Reservation bill and so on, they alleged. The State committee member, G. Dhananjayalu Naidu and others participated.
