PATHANAMTHITTA: Grandma, a bamboo boat built by five artistes, was launched into the Manimala at Thirumoolapuram Kannalikadavu near Thiruvalla on Sunday afternoon. The small village on the banks of the river was in a festive mood. People thronged the riverbanks at Kannalikadavu to witness the launching ceremony. Though the Tourism Minster, K.C. Venugopal and the Cultural Affairs Minister, A.P. Anilkumar, had promised to jointly launch the boat, they could not turn up. C.S. Sujatha, MP, launched the bamboo vessel by lighting a camphor lamp. Ms. Sujatha also participated in the maiden trip of the boat along with the artistes R. Balachandran, V. Vinod, Subhash K. Rajan, Suresh Babu and V.N. Ramesh.
