Heatwave continues

LUCKNOW: Heatwave conditions continued to grip Uttar Pradesh with maximum temperatures in different parts of the State hovering between 38 and 43 degree Celsius during the last 24 hours.

Weathermen said here on Sunday that Varanasi, Kanpur and Allahabad with maximum temperatures of 43 degree Celsius were the hottest places in the State. While Varanasi and Kanpur recorded the temperature two degrees above normal, Allahabad experienced similar temperature a degree above normal.

Gorakhpur recorded 38 degree Celsius (two degree below normal) Bareilly 39 degrees (two degrees below normal), Bahraich also 39 degree (a degree below normal), Sultanpur at 42 degree (a degree above normal) and Jhansi also recording identical temperature that was a degree below normal.

The State capital Lucknow recorded a maximum temperature of 41 degree Celsius ( a degree above normal). The maximum temperature was likely to increase by a degree during the next 24 hours, with a mainly clear sky becoming partly cloudy and chances of dust and thunderstorms accompanied with squalls at isolated places, the State Met Department said.
