ETAWAH: Seven of the 17-member Salim Gurjar dacoit gang, including three women, were killed during a fierce gunbattle with police in the Chambal ravines on Sunday. A special police team, following a tip-off, raided the dacoit hide-out in Bihar village under Bithauli police station area and seven of them were killed in an ensuing encounter, officials here said. Among those killed were Aarti, Sapna Dangi and Raj Singh who had cash rewards on their heads. Firearms of various makes, ammunition and items of daily use were found in the hide-out, they said. The entire area has been cordoned off and efforts were on to track down the remaining members of the gang, operating in the region for some time. The Salim Gurjar gang reportedly had 17 active members including four women.
