Shivalingaswamy is Janata Party candidate

Special Correspondent

BANGALORE: The Janata Party is fielding its candidate in the byelection to the Lok Sabha from the Shimoga constituency. It has selected Shivalingaswamy as its candidate.

The party spokesman, Mustafa Baig, said that their candidate, who is a Lingayat, would fight, among others, S. Bangarappa of the Samajwadi Party and Ayanur Manjunath of the Congress, who are known for their "fickle political loyalties."

Mr. Manjunath was the Working President of the Janata Party after he quit the BJP.
