THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The District Planning Committee (DPC) has urged the Government to extend the deadline for approving the plan projects of the Local Self-Government Institutions (LSGIs). The last date for approving the projects of the grama panchayats expired on May 10. Of the 78 panchayats in the district, only 14 have submitted their projects for clearance, the District Panchayat president, Sasikala Sivasankar, who chaired the DPC meeting at the Collectorate said. The block-level examination of the projects is progressing. Certain panchayats have not submitted their projects to the block development officers. The committee has cleared the projects of Kallikadu; Chengal; Parassala; Panavoor; Kadakkavoor; Anchuthengu; Chirayinkeezh; Cherunniyoor and Elakamon panchayats. The projects of Kottukal; Venganoor; Edava; Ottur and Poovar panchayats have been submitted for clearance, Ms. Sivasankar said. The Government should adopt a positive stand for preparing the projects.
