Five trains to be upgraded

NEW DELHI: To ensure faster travel for its passengers, Northern Railway has decided to convert five of its popular trains from express/mail to superfast. Similarly, it has also decided to augment a few trains by adding additional coaches and also run special trains to clear the summer rush. The five trains that will get the status of superfast trains in July are - the 4659/4660 New Delhi-Amritsar Intercity Express train that will be converted into Superfast Express from July 1 and renumbered as 2459/2460; the 4229/4230 New Delhi-Lucknow Mail to Superfast Express from July 10 and renumbered as 2229/2230; the 3013/3014 Howrah-Dehra Dun Upasana Express to Superfast Express from July 5 and renumbered as 2327/2328, and the 5265/5266 New Delhi-Darbhanga Bihar Sampark Kranti Express to Superfast Express from July 12 and renumbered as 2565/2566.

Similarly, the 2317/2318 Patna-Amritsar Akal Takht (bi-weekly) Express train will be augmented by one additional AC 3 Tier coach, two additional second sleeper coaches and one luggage van from July 10. It has also been decided to extend the service of Kalindi Express up to Bhiwani, while the service of the New Delhi-Dibrugarh Town Rajdhani Express has also been extended from twice a week to five days a week from July 11.
