SINGAPORE: An India-aided vocational training centre has been inaugurated in Jakarta for the construction sector under a bilateral MoU with Indonesia. Financed under the Indian Technical and Economic Cooperation Programme, the turnkey-project costing $750,000 was designed and set up by the National Small Industries Corporation Limited. Indonesia's Minister of Public Works, Djoko Kirmanto, and India's Ambassador to Indonesia, Hemant Krishan Singh, formally inaugurated the centre on May 10. The centre has already trained the first batch of Indonesian trainers in construction activities. Dr. Kirmanto sought India's assistance for similar-model centres in other parts of Indonesia and said his ministry had sent over 400 of its personnel to various Indian universities for higher learning.
