BANGALORE: Geetha Nagabhushan, Chairperson, Karnataka Sahitya Academy, was conferred with the Anupama Award for 2005 at a function organised by Karnataka Lekhakiyara Sangha here on Sunday. She got the award for lifetime achievements as a writer and her contributions to Kannada literature. The H.V. Savithramma Trust Award went to Shyamala Madhav of Mumbai for her translation of the novel "Gone With the Wind"; the Gita Desai Award went to Gurudevi Hulleppanavarmath of Belgaum for her collection of essays, "Neeru Banthu Neeru"; the Prema Bhat Award for Rural Writers went to Sunita Rao of Shimoga and the Gudibande Purnima Award for upcoming poetesses was given to P. Bharathidevi of Chennai, T.A. Usharani of Hampi, K.C. Jayasri of Bangalore, R. Tarini Shubhadayini of Chitradurga and Shweta Naragund of Belgaum.
