KOCHI: The district-level inauguration of the National Pulse Polio Immunisation Programme was held at the Ernakulam Junction railway station on Sunday. The Kochi Mayor, C.M. Dinesh Mani, inaugurated the programme by administering oral vaccine to a child. About 93 per cent of children under five years were administered the polio vaccine at the 2,032 booths and six mobile units arranged by the district health authorities. Children below five years can be administered vaccines at the booths that will continue to function for the next two days at Subhas Park and Children's Park.
