VIJAYAWADA: To get the first hand information about the problems being faced by residents of the city, the Communist Party of India (CPI) is launching a 10-day `samara bheri' programme from Monday. Party workers will tour all divisions of the Vijayawada Municipal Corporation (VMC) and collect complaints from residents. At the end of the programme, they will stage relay hunger strike in all divisions and in front of circle offices of the VMC and lay a siege to the corporation office demanding solution to problems. The State assistant secretary of the CPI, K. Narayana, will flag off the `bheri' at the Swathi theatre centre in Bhavanipuram. Addressing a press meet here on Sunday, Dr. Narayana felt the programme would help the party strengthen its base in the city.
