Exemption for Kalimuthu
Staff Reporter
CHENNAI:
Tamil Nadu Assembly Speaker K. Kalimuthu's personal appearance in the over two decade-old `Robin Mayne case,' was dispensed with on Monday after a petition stating that his mother had passed away a couple of days ago was filed before the CBI court hearing the case.
Mr. Kalimuthu is the 24th accused in the case and is charged with conspiring with 31 others between March 1983 and June 1984 to commit cheating by impersonation, forgery and falsification of accounts. He was the Agriculture Minister in the MGR Cabinet then.
