NALGONDA: The Nalgonda police on Monday arrested a seven-member pseudo naxalite gang that allegedly committed series of extortions and dacoits in Andhra Pradesh and Maharashtra in the last four years. The police recovered two air pistols, a cell phone, gold and currency worth Rs.96,000. The arrested persons were: Bantu Sampath alias Sagar of Karimnagar district, Bade Suresh Kumar alias Raghu and Gudusu Narasimha of Ranga Reddy, Sk. Gous of Adilabad, Mothkuri Sudhakarachary of Hyderabad, Banda Raghavulu and Dandepalli Saidulu of Warangal. Among the accused persons, Raghavulu and Saidulu were said to be surrendered naxalites. M.M. Bhagwat, Superintendent of Police, told reporters that the kingpins -- Sampath and Suresh Kumar -- who became friends at a jail in Karimnagar, formed a gang to commit dacoities in Rajurra and Chandrapur of Maharashtra and Hasanparthy, Khajipet, Velijyal, Panjarla, Bellampally, Injapur, Vanastalipuram in Andhra Pradesh after their release in 2002. They allegedly murdered one Sampath at Bantupally in Karimnagar district. . They began extorting money from people in the name of Praja Pratighatana naxalites, the SP said. A cell phone taken away by the gang from a house in Chatrakanigudem under Bibinagar police station on February 22 led the police to nab the gang.
