Ex-Minister joins Congress, lauds YSR's welfare schemes

Staff Reporter

ANANTAPUR: The former TDP Minister, S. Ramachandra Reddy, joined the Congress on Sunday night. He was formally admitted into the party by the DCC president and MP, A. Venkatarami Reddy.

Joining the ruling party in the presence of Ministers, J.C. Diwakar Reddy and N. Raghuveera Reddy, Mr. Ramachandra Reddy and his supporters claimed that they were joining the Congress as they were attracted by the welfare and development schemes taken up by the Chief Minister, Y.S. Rajasekhara Reddy. They criticised the TDP for distancing itself from people by following undemocratic methods and anti-people policies. Mr. Ramachandra Reddy is a two-time legislator from Penukonda, once serving as a minister, and one-time MP from Hindupur.

Speaking to the newspersons later, Mr. Venkatarami Reddy and Mr. Diwakar Reddy refuted the charges levelled against the Congress Government by the TDP president, N. Chandrababu Naidu, during his visit to Anantapur on May 14 after the Penukonda violence.
